Memories / Erinnerungen (6)

"Hippocampus"

While working on this bracelet many memories from my childhood came back to me. So this is my entry for the theme "Memories".
Beading, peyote stitch, seed beads.

I started working on this while watching the movie ‘White Christmas’, so I’m sure you can figure out the connection. The postcard is made with 100% cotton sheeting. The background is painted using Pebeo Touch paints, and then I used some stitching and beads to create the feeling of falling snow.

This is my favorit quote:
What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new. Right now

I love the idea of the old fashioned charm bracelets. Individual charms collected throughout a life time that trigger memories specific and personal to the particular individual. This crocheted version chronicles a fictitious woman's life from her birth (pink baby shoe) to the well-earned vacations of her retirement. And, of course, there is room left on the bracelet to document the rest of what life brings her.

Tuesday again, so here we go with a theme that might feel right in this time of year:
Memories

Erinnerungen

Claude Monet (8)

Valentine card for my Mother---fabric paper, painted embroidered bird, stitching, beading couched edges
And "stretching" a definition: for Textile Tuesday, this is my "Monet" interpretation/inspiration, because of the colours!

I used 100% cotton sheeting (fairly thick stuff), standard anchor embroidery floss and Pebeo Setacolour Shimmer paints which I diluted so I could use them like watercolours.
